Cold Shoulder

(This is the outline for a speech I am going to give at 1:15. (Some names have been changed to protect the guilty(and innocent (and others.))))

I. Introduction
A. Have you ever expected attention from someone and instead gotten nothing?
B. The Cold Shoulder award goes to the person who embodies that spirit the best.
C. The person who receives this award is the person who over the past year has been brushed off, shot down, left alone, and left hanging the most.

II. Body
A. The first testimony comes from a girl we’ll call Krazy in Kansas.
1. I was supposed to go to prom with this guy. I considered us to be friends. He is a fun guy, but no one really thought he was “cool.” So when it came time to prom night and he was supposed to pick me up I was nowhere to be found. I ran off to watch monster trucks with some guy I met earlier that week. I felt bad about it, but can you imagine what people would have said about me if I would have shown up to prom with him?
2. Ouch, that hurts, but I have a feeling that wasn’t the worst of it.

B. The second testimony comes from Flakey in Florida.
1. Yeah, he’s a nice guy, but there’s something about him. He’s great. I might even say he’s “potential,” but I’m just nervous about him. We were about to go on our fourth date and for some reason I got spooked. I don’t know why. I don’t think it was anything he did. I just didn’t want to be around him any more. If he reads this, please tell him I’m sorry and it’s not him, it’s me.
2. Wow, she it Flakey. Let’s see who’s up next.

C. The final testimony, and the one I feel clinched the award for this nominee, comes from Player in Pennsylvania.
1. I really had no good intentions when I met him. He seemed like he was nice and most likely a push over. I guess what I did was a little… underhanded. It’s not my fault, if a guy asks me out and I want to go, I’ll go. I obviously didn’t want to go with HIM, but who would turn down a dinner at Outback Steak House? Then the next time he had front row tickets to WWF, and I loved Hulk Hogan. And the last date we went on was to the last showing of the musical Cats. It was a once in a life time experience. Oh, and about that rumor that I told him I love him, it’s completely false. Well, I did say the words, “I love you,” but I thought it was understood I was talking about his shirt.
2. Man –oh – man, that one was low.

III. Conclusion
A. As you can see this person has been brushed off with the best of them.
B. You have heard these powerful testimonials from three girls in all different parts of the country that have left our nominee hanging out to dry.
C. It is my pleasure to introduce to you, the winner of the Cold Shoulder award for 2005...
